Comedian to Resume Hugely Successful Tour with New Dates Added

Robin Williams is returning to the road to resume his “Weapons of Self-Destruction” comedy tour after postponing several dates in March to undergo heart surgery. “Weapons” launched in September 2008 and played to rave reviews and sold out crowds. As the tour continues, Williams will unleash his “Weapons” on Chicago, Atlanta, Orlando and Washington DC, among many other cities. The announcement comes on the day of Robin’s highly anticipated return to the scene with a May 13 appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and on the eve of the May 14 world premiere of Twentieth Century Fox Films’ “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” in which Williams reprises his role as ‘Teddy Roosevelt’. That film is set for release on May 22.

“This little break has given me more energy than ever,” said Williams. “Plus it’s wonderful to have a cow valve... If you don’t mind the grazing, it’s quite invigorating.”

A string of rescheduled dates has been announced, as well as some brand new shows. For fans that had purchased tickets to previously postponed shows, those tickets will be honored for the rescheduled engagements. However, those ticket holders must contact the venue’s box office for details.

Highlighting Williams’ trademark free associations and riffs on social and political absurdities, “Weapons of Self-Destruction” was being hailed by critics from across the globe before the hiatus:

“Robin Williams is still a master of comedy” --Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard

“Howlingly hilarious.” “His stand-up act is a potent, charming display of manic behavior.” --Melissa Ruggieri, Richmond Times-Dispatch

“More than merely a joke teller, the Juilliard-trained actor raises his clever and original observations to comic genius with his use of accents and masterful performing skills. With his sharp intellect and a rapier wit that comes to him as easily as breathing, it's no wonder Williams has remained one of the most revered comedians for the past 30 years.” -- Michelle Drown, Santa Barbara Independent

With more than 40 industry honors to his credit including four Academy Award® nominations and one win, two Emmy® awards, four Grammys® and six Golden Globes® including the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award, Williams has become one of the most successful and beloved figures in entertainment history. In addition to this tour and the “Night at the Museum” sequel, Williams will soon be seen starring opposite John Travolta in the Disney comedy “Old Dogs,” which is scheduled for a Thanksgiving release.
